ROME UNDAMMED
Photographs and artifacts

An exhibition documenting the Rome Dam, built in 1893-94, rebuilt in 1936, and which provided water and power to the J+J Rogers Co. pulp mill, until it closed in 1971. After extreme flooding during Tropical Storm Irene in 2011, the dam was scheduled for removal in 2018.

INHABITED PLACES
Photographers Brian French and Dan Hausner have been friends for nearly two decades. They reside in very different parts of New York State. Brian in Schenectady; Dan in Saranac Lake, in the Adirondack Mountains. Each artist’s work is a reflection of the place where they reside. Together these images show two very different views of the places where people live.

2016, ART Convey Transport Reflect, photographs by Mark Hobson
The pictures in the ART ~ convey / transport / reflect exhibit were made over a period of 2 years on Rue Saint-Paul Ouest in Old Montreal. In these pictures I have pictured art on display in Rue Saint-Paul Ouest gallery windows, to include the reflections in the windows of the world outside of the galleries. The reflections provide a bridge and construct between the art world and the real world. MH

2014, Japanese Scrolls, Hans Laverge (Lake Placid, New York City)
Laverge shares his collection of avian and floral representations in computer enhanced simulation of flat painted, high detailed, large scale images, mounted with the traditional cylinder wooden rollers and fastening ribbons and showcases this new form of traditional Japanese art. Spanning a great variety of subject matter, from political commentary to epic romances to religious tales, Japanese illustrated hands scrolls bring stories to life in a vivid, engaging manner.

A native New Yorker, Rockwell Kent (1882‐1971) settled at Asgaard Farm just outside of Au Sable Forks in the 1920’s, when he was in his 40’s.

Rebecca Kelly Ballet in performance
Bissonette documents dance from its first expressions in the young child, through the student of dance, to the polished accomplishment of professional performance, in all the settings dancers practice their art, with the goal to reveal the interest the rural community has for dance, and the idea that exposure helps connect communities. He has long been affiliated with Rebecca Kelly Ballet (NYC) and its Onstage Youth Performance Camp at Lake Placid Center for the Arts, and with the North Country Ballet Ensemble of Plattsburgh in their annual holiday Nutcracker Ballet production.
